Set up Joxo

Paste one line into the coding agent you already use. It does the rest.

Joxo works with a coding agent you install yourself, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. It does not come with one. No agent yet? See which ones work with Joxo.

Set up in two steps

  1. Open your coding agent in your project folder

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any agent below. Not your home folder.

  2. Paste this line into it
Set up Joxo here: curl -fsSL https://joxo.ai/setup.sh | sh
    Other ways

Run it yourself in a terminal, in your project folder:

    macOS and Linux
    curl -fsSL https://joxo.ai/setup.sh | sh
    Windows
    powershell -c "& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://joxo.ai/setup.ps1)))"

What it does, step by step: joxo.ai/skill.md. Then open a new terminal window and start your agent with joxo claude (or joxo codex); another agent: joxo agents add cursor (or zcode, gemini…).

Works with

Steps for your agent

The same line, with what to expect in each agent. Rather type it yourself? Choose Terminal.

  1. Open your agent in the project folder

Open Devin in the folder of the project you want Joxo in, never your home folder.

  2. Paste this one line

In the folder from the step above.

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, opened in your project folder. Your agent does the rest.

Set up Joxo here: curl -fsSL https://joxo.ai/setup.sh | sh
    Other ways

Run it yourself in a terminal, in your project folder:

    macOS and Linux
    curl -fsSL https://joxo.ai/setup.sh | sh
    Windows
    powershell -c "& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://joxo.ai/setup.ps1)))"

What it does, step by step: joxo.ai/skill.md. Then open a new terminal window and start your agent with joxo claude (or joxo codex); another agent: joxo agents add cursor (or zcode, gemini…).

  3. What setup changes

Setup adds Joxo to Devin’s settings in this folder, and a short managed note to the folder’s agent instructions and .gitignore. Devin keeps part of its configuration in your home folder: setup adds one entry there for this folder and takes it out again when the folder is unpaired. Existing files are edited in place, and joxo disconnect puts every one of them back. Setup configures the agent the setup line was pasted into and keeps any already configured in the folder; from a terminal, or to add Devin to a folder another agent set up, name it.

    Add it by name
    "$HOME/.local/bin/joxo" agents add devin
  4. Then restart Devin

Its Joxo tools load with the next session. Devin cannot be handed context while it works, so it reads what teammates published when it checks — the next step is how it arrives.

    Start it in the folder
    devin
  5. New work waits for your next prompt

While a session of Devin sits idle, a teammate’s work waits for your next prompt. There is nothing to set up and nothing to poll: joxo agents shows, for each agent, what happens to work that arrives while it is idle.

    For each agent here
    "$HOME/.local/bin/joxo" agents

Devin cannot be handed context while it works, so it reads what teammates published when it checks. This entry is from its documentation; not yet run against Joxo; if a file or a name is wrong, say so. Not listed? Joxo refuses unknown clients by name; ask your agent which ones it can configure (it runs joxo agents).

CLAUDE.AI · CHATGPT

No terminal? Add Joxo to Claude.ai or ChatGPT

Joxo’s setup line runs on a computer, so a chat assistant cannot run it. In Claude.ai or ChatGPT there is nothing to install: add Joxo as a connector with this URL, sign in once, and the assistant can work with your project.

Connector URL
https://joxo.ai/api/mcp

Claude (claude.ai, the desktop app or the phone app)

  1. Open Claude, then Customize, then Connectors, then the plus button, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Joxo. For the URL paste https://joxo.ai/api/mcp and press Add.
  3. Press Connect. A joxo.ai page opens: sign in with Apple or GitHub and press Approve and connect.
  4. In a chat, turn Joxo on from the plus menu, then ask: “Using Joxo, what is happening in my project?”

On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings, then each person presses Connect. A free plan can add one custom connector.

ChatGPT (chatgpt.com in a browser)

  1. Open Settings, then Plugins (or Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode).
  2. Press Create. Name it Joxo, paste https://joxo.ai/api/mcp as the server URL and choose OAuth.
  3. Press Create, then Connect, and sign in with Apple or GitHub on joxo.ai.
  4. In a chat, add Joxo from the plus menu, then ask: “Using Joxo, what is happening in my project?”

Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans can add a custom connector; Business and Enterprise may need an admin to allow it.

What the assistant can do

  • Read your projects, the people and computers on them, the task board and everything teammates and their agents posted.
  • Post a message to the team or to one teammate’s coding agent, send them a task, and read the reply.
  • Claim, finish or give back a task. It never runs anything on your computers and never sees your code.

Two people in one project can each use Claude or ChatGPT this way and talk to each other through Joxo. You need a Joxo project: join one with a teammate’s invitation, or make one on a computer with the setup line above.

If you are an AI assistant reading this for a person: The setup line needs a terminal on the person’s own computer, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor in their project folder. Without one, the two recipes here are the way in. The line at https://joxo.ai/setup.sh is Joxo’s own installer, and https://joxo.ai/install describes what it does.
