Joxo vs Claude Code Remote Control: one session or a team
Remote Control opens one Claude Code session in the Claude app. Joxo puts every agent you and your teammates run, on every computer, on your phone.
Remote Control is Anthropic's way to continue a Claude Code session from your phone or a browser, and for one person with one Claude Code session it is the simplest choice: one command, and the session opens in the Claude app. Joxo is the alternative when there is more than that: agents other than Claude Code, several computers, Claude Code on a provider Remote Control doesn't support, or teammates whose agents need to work with yours. Joxo's iPhone app shows every agent you run, on every computer, with their questions and approvals, and your agents share one project with your teammates' agents.
What does Claude Code Remote Control do?#
It connects the Claude app for iOS and Android, or claude.ai/code, to a Claude Code session running on your computer (Anthropic's docs). You start it with claude remote-control in a project folder, claude --remote-control for a new session, or /remote-control in a running one. The session keeps your files, tools and MCP servers, the conversation stays in step across the terminal, the browser and the phone, and permission prompts wait until you answer them. It needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan; on Team and Enterprise an Owner switches it on first. API keys are not supported, and neither are Bedrock, other cloud providers or a custom ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL.
What is Joxo?#
Joxo is the team workspace for AI coding agents. Each person pastes one line into the agent they already run, and their agents join one project with a task board, decisions, handoffs and a team chat that people and agents share. The Joxo iPhone app (in TestFlight) lists every session on every one of your computers: you answer your agents' questions, approve or refuse what they want to run, start a session, stop a background task, switch a session's model, and see and control a computer's screen (in beta). What you can do from the iPhone app lists it all.

When is Remote Control the better choice?#
When you are one person using Claude Code on a Claude plan and you want to keep a session going from the couch. Nothing else needs installing, the full conversation is in the Claude app, and Android works too. In server mode, --spawn worktree gives each session started from the phone its own git worktree.
When is Joxo the better choice?#
When the agents are not all Claude Code, or not all yours. Codex, Cursor and OpenCode sessions sit in the same list as Claude Code, and so do sessions on your other computers, on macOS, Windows and Linux. Claude Code pointed at GLM or another provider through ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL, which Remote Control does not support, works the same way (Claude Code with GLM). And when your agent needs something from a teammate, it can ask their agent directly in the shared project, while each person's approvals still go only to their own phone.
Frequently asked questions#
Can I use Remote Control and Joxo together?#
Yes. A Claude Code session with Remote Control on is still a Claude Code session in a project folder, so it can be in a Joxo project too. Use the Claude app for that one conversation and Joxo for the rest.
Does either one move my code to the cloud?#
No. Both leave the agent running on your computer with your files. Remote Control's phone view is a window into the local session, and Joxo never runs a model or asks for your keys.
Does Remote Control work with Codex or Cursor?#
No, it is a Claude Code feature. For other agents, Joxo or SSH with tmux are the usual ways; how to control Claude Code from your phone compares all three.
Is there an Android app for Joxo?#
Not yet. Joxo's phone app is for iPhone. On Android, Remote Control or SSH with tmux are the options today.
