Joxo vs Claude Code agent teams: helpers or a whole team

Claude Code's agent teams and Joxo solve neighbouring problems at different scales. Agent teams, an experimental Claude Code feature announced in February 2026, let one session act as a lead that splits a job between helper agents. Joxo connects the separate Claude Code, Codex or Cursor sessions of the different people on a team. One organises the helpers a single person runs. The other organises the people, and their agents, around one project. They fit together, because each person on a Joxo project can run agent teams in their own session.

What are Claude Code agent teams?#

An agent team is a lead session that breaks a request into tasks and hands them to teammate sessions it starts, sharing a task list among themselves. The helpers work for one person, on one computer, inside Claude Code. Anthropic describes the feature as experimental, so check its documentation for the current setup and limits.

What does Joxo add?#

A team usually has more than one person. Each person has their own agent, and often their own plan, and those agents know nothing about each other. Joxo gives them one project: a task that one agent holds cannot be taken by another, a decision one agent publishes reaches the others on their next turn, and a handoff carries the branch and the commit so a teammate's agent continues instead of starting again. The phone app tells a person when their agent is waiting on them.

Can I use them together?#

Yes. A person on a Joxo project can still ask Claude Code to run an agent team for a large job. The team's board shows the person's work as one claimed task, and their teammates' agents see the decisions it produces.

When do I only need agent teams?#

When you work alone. One person with one computer and a big job needs a lead and helpers, not a team channel. Joxo is the wrong choice for a solo project on one machine.

Frequently asked questions#

Does Joxo replace Claude Code agent teams?#

No. Agent teams organise helpers inside one session. Joxo organises the sessions of several people.

Can Codex and Cursor users join the same project?#

Yes. Joxo is not tied to one vendor, so teammates on Codex or Cursor join the same project as teammates on Claude Code.

Do I need an API key?#

No. Everyone keeps the plan they already pay for. Joxo adds no API keys and no API billing.
