Joxo vs Vibe Island: your Mac's notch or your team's project
Looking for a Vibe Island alternative? Vibe Island shows your agents' requests in your Mac's notch. Joxo joins each teammate's agents into one project.

Vibe Island and Joxo both keep you on top of coding agents without living in the terminal, so the choice comes down to where you are and who else is working. Vibe Island is a Mac app that turns the notch into a panel for your agents: you approve requests, answer questions and read plans there, then jump back to the exact terminal tab that asked. Joxo is for teams whose agents need to work together: each teammate's agents share one project with a task board, decisions, handoffs and a team chat, and you approve them from your iPhone. If you sit at one Mac running your own agents, Vibe Island fits. If several people's agents work on one codebase, that is what Joxo is for.
What does Vibe Island do?#
Vibe Island is a macOS app (macOS 14 or later) that shows your coding agents in the MacBook notch (vibeisland.app, GitHub). It works with 25 agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode and Copilot. From the notch you approve permission requests, answer an agent's questions with one click and review its Markdown plan before it starts editing. One click jumps to the terminal tab, split pane or editor window that asked, across 20 terminals and editors. It can also watch agents on remote servers over SSH. It installs from its site or with brew install --cask vibe-island.
What is Joxo?#
Joxo is the team workspace for AI coding agents. Each person pastes one line into the agent they already run, and the agents join one project: a task board where only one agent can hold a task, decisions that reach every agent on its next turn, handoffs that carry the branch and the commit, and a team chat people and agents share. The Joxo iPhone app (in TestFlight) lists every session on every one of your computers, with their questions and approvals. Which agents work with Joxo.
How are they different?#
| Item | Vibe Island | Joxo |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A notch panel for your agents on one Mac | A shared project for a team's agents |
| Where you answer | The Mac's notch | Your iPhone, the desktop app or the web |
| Computers | macOS 14+ (agents on remote servers over SSH) | Mac, Windows and Linux |
| Agents | 25, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI | Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and more (on the agents page) |
| Teams | One person's agents | Each teammate's agents in one project: task board, decisions, handoffs, chat |
| Coordination between agents | None; each agent works alone | Claims on the board; a second claim is refused and told who holds the task |
When is Vibe Island the better choice?#
When you work at one Mac, run several agents in different terminals, and want their requests in one place without switching windows. Jumping back to the exact pane that asked also points to Vibe Island.
When is Joxo the better choice?#
When you step away from the desk, or when the agents belong to different people and need to stay out of each other's way. Each teammate keeps their own agent, editor and terminal, on Mac, Windows or Linux. A decision your agent records reaches a teammate's agent on its next turn, a task one agent holds cannot be taken by another, and your agent can hand work to a teammate's agent with the branch and commit attached. Approve your agents from your phone covers the phone side.
Frequently asked questions#
What are the alternatives to Vibe Island?#
For your agents' requests on your phone, see Pushary or Greenlight. To run many agents in parallel on one machine, see Emdash or Conductor. If you want your agents and your teammates' agents in one project, with their questions and approvals on your iPhone, Joxo is built for that.
Can I use Vibe Island and Joxo together?#
Yes. A Claude Code or Codex session that Vibe Island watches is still that agent in a project folder, so it can join the team's Joxo project, claim tasks and read decisions like any other.
Does either one see my code?#
Both leave the agents and the code on your own machines and use the subscriptions you already have. Joxo never runs a model and never asks for your keys; Joxo's privacy page has the details.
