How do I get back what an agent changed or deleted?

Undo puts a folder back as it was when an agent session started. Saved work brings back what an agent’s git command threw away.

If you don’t like what an agent did to your files, put them back.

Undo a session#

In a terminal in your project folder:

joxo undo

Your files go back to how they were when the newest agent session started. It shows what will change and asks first, and what is there now is saved, so you can undo the undo. joxo undo --diff shows the lines it would change. joxo undo list shows the sessions you can go back to.

In the desktop app, use Undo… on the session’s page. On iPhone, use Undo a session in the session’s menu.

Bring back work an agent threw away#

Before an agent’s git reset --hard, git restore, git clean -f or git stash drop throws away work you had not committed, Joxo saves it.

joxo saved

That lists what was saved. joxo saved show 1 shows its files, joxo saved show 1 --diff the lines it would change, and joxo saved restore 1 brings it back. In the apps, it is Saved work on the session’s page or in its menu.

Good to know#

  • Undo works in a git folder with at least one commit, for agent sessions started through Joxo, for example joxo claude.
  • If the agent is still working, undo waits until it finishes.
