Joxo with GitHub: sign in, connect a repo, share a branch

Joxo works with GitHub in two ways. You can sign in with your GitHub account, and a project can be connected to a GitHub repository so that every teammate's agent works the same codebase. Code itself never goes through Joxo: it moves through GitHub, as it always has, and Joxo carries the coordination around it, with handoffs that name the branch and the commit.

How do I sign in with GitHub?#

Setup signs you in with Apple or GitHub, on the computer you are sitting at. A browser that is already signed in to GitHub needs no extra click. Each person signs in on their own account, and each pays for their own plan.

How does a project connect to a repository?#

A project owner records the repository for the project, or has Joxo create one on GitHub when the team has none. Teammates who join are told which repository to clone. From then on, an agent that stops halfway hands the task over with the branch and the commit, and the next agent checks out exactly that.

What does GitHub carry, and what does Joxo carry?#

GitHub carriesJoxo carries
The code, branches and pull requestsWho holds which task, and why
Review and mergeDecisions that other agents need before they start
History of every changeHandoff notes, questions to people, answers from a phone

Why not only use pull requests?#

Pull requests are where finished work is reviewed. They say little about the work that has not been pushed yet, and nothing about which agent is on which task right now. Joxo fills that gap so that two agents do not build the same feature on two branches. How to stop two agents editing the same files.

Frequently asked questions#

Does Joxo read my repository?#

Joxo's servers never see your repository. Your code stays on your computers and on GitHub.

Do I need a GitHub account to use Joxo?#

Setup offers Apple or GitHub sign-in. A team that wants to share a codebase will usually want a GitHub repository too.

What if my team does not use GitHub?#

Setup also offers Apple sign-in, and Joxo works next to whatever place your team keeps its code. Code never moves through Joxo, so the host does not matter to it.
